Outfunnel automatically records email opens, clicks and other engagement in your CRM. Learn how to customize this.

Updated over a year ago

Our email marketing tool lets you send one-off email campaigns as well as automated email sequences that tightly integrate with CRMs, like Pipedrive, HubSpot, and Copper.

Outfunnel automatically records email engagement in your CRM as a custom activity for email sends, opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribe (that you can later filter in your CRM)

You can edit the default email engagement recording settings in Email settings > Engagement recording. Currently, the engagement is synced for all supported CRMs but HubSpot users are not yet able to configure the settings.

How to customize recording email engagement:

1. In Outfunnel > Account > Email settings page, open Engagement recording

2. Choose how you’d like email activities like sends, opens, clicks, bounces or unsubscribes recorded in the CRM.

You can change these settings at any time by opening the automation and making the changes.

That’s it! You’ve changed the defaults and all new email engagement is synced to Pipedrive accordingly.

Tips, observations, and useful definitions:

💡 Activities are added to my Pipedrive calendar. Please note that if you've set up a calendar sync in Pipedrive, then all activities are automatically added to your Google or Outlook calendar. To turn this off simply uncheck Outfunnel activity types in Pipedrive > Company Settings > Calendar Sync

These are the types that Outfunnel creates: Newsletter Sent, Newsletter Opened, Newsletter Clicked, Newsletter Bounce, Newsletter Unsubscribe, Contact Created, Newsletter Reply, Form Submitted, Visited Website

💡 Notes vs Activities in Pipedrive. Activities are usually filterable in a CRM, whereas notes are not. At the same time, too many activities might create unnecessary clutter so you may want to sync less telling but more frequent events (eg. email sends or opens) as notes.

💡 Coming soon to HubSpot CRM. We'll soon add similar configurability to HubSpot. Note that, the activities are already recorded in HubSpot - they are simply not configurable.
